The Yonkers Community Health Center is a not-for-profit 501c3 comprehensive ambulatory diagnostic and treatment Center, operated by the Greenburgh Health Center . Located in Southwest Yonkers, the Center was established in 1987 to serve the increasing number of Yonkers residents who were accessing medical services at the Greenburgh Health Center . The Health Center’s mission is to provide quality, primary, comprehensive, and affordable health care to the medically underserved residents of the community.

The Center was first accredited in 1998 by the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Health Care Organization and currently maintains its JACHO status. Medicaid and Medicare insurances are accepted in addition to most private insurances. A sliding fee scale is available for those who are uninsured; however, no one is refused services due to their inability to pay. The Center is staffed with bilingual professional and support staff.

Yonkers Community Health Center services include the following:

Internal Medicine:€“ The Internal Medicine department is staffed with 3 full-time Family Practice Physicians, providing comprehensive primary medical care. Referrals to specialists are made as needed. The providers have admitting privileges at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Yonkers. 24 hour on call service is available.

Pediatrics: Staffed with one full-time and one part-time provider, well child care services, which includes immunizations and physicals are offered for children from birth to age 15. Sound Shore Medical Center in New Rochelle is the admitting hospital.

OB/GYN (Women’s Services) : Our OB/GYN Department consists of two full-time obstetricians. Services include complete obstetrical care, as well as gynecological care. Other services include Lamaze Classes, Breastfeeding Classes, and mammogram screenings. Sound Shore Medical Center in New Rochelle is the admitting/delivery hospital.

Dental:€“ The Dental Department is staffed with two dentists. General dentistry services are provided. These services include diagnostic and treatment, consultations and referrals to specialists when needed. Dental services are provided to children from age 3 to adults.

Specialty Services: The Center provides the following specialty services on-site: ophthalmology, podiatry, sonograms, and cardiology. Patients requiring services not offered at Yonkers are referred to the Greenburgh Health Center .

Nutrition:€“ The Center has (2) certified nutritionists who provide nutrition counseling and assessment.

Social Services: The Social Services Department is staffed with one full-time social worker. In addition to addressing the various needs of the patient, the social worker also completes Medicaid and PCAP applications.

Laboratory:€“ The Center has a laboratory collection station staffed with one full-time phlebotomist.

HIV Services: The Center offers confidential HIV counseling and testing.

Nursing: The Center’s nursing staff consists of two Registered Nurses and six Medical Assistants.

Transportation: Free transportation is provided between the Yonkers and Mount Vernon Health Center in addition to any other health facility as needed by the patients.
